The Colorado School of Mines (CSM) Chapter has established itself as an important part of the CSM and Colorado Front Range energy economics landscape. The 2nd Annual Rocky Mountain Energy Economics (RMEE) Banquet, held at the Denver Athletic Club in November 2015, featured keynote speaker Guy Caruso (USAEE President-elect), who gave an engaging talk on energy geopolitics to an audience of about 90 people from the local energy community. The audience was composed largely of CSM students and faculty, as well as representatives from local industry, national labs, and other academic institutions. The success of the event was due in part to significant sponsorship from GE Ecomagination, the Joint Institute for Strategic Energy Analysis, and the Payne Institute for Earth Resources. The 3rd Annual RMEE Banquet will feature keynote speaker Mine Yucel of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas (former IAEE President) and will be held at the Denver Athletic Club on October 27, 2016.

The CSM Chapter also has a new website (http://csm-usaee.blogspot.com/) which keeps members updated about chapter activities and local events of interest. In addition to the annual kickoff meeting, the Chapter strives to hold at least one energy-related field trip and guest speaker per semester. Current officers are Braeton Smith (President), Jacquelyn Pless (Vice-President), Sadie Fulton (Secretary), Tisi Igogo (Treasurer), and Ian Lange (Faculty Advisor).

Although the chapter is headquartered at CSM in Golden, Colorado, membership is open to anyone in the Denver/Front Range area with a strong research or professional interest in energy economics. We encourage any current USAEE members in the area to please contact the chapter president, Braeton Smith, to become a member and help grow this network.
